On October 3, 2024, Utopiq and Karmina organized an in-person event in Barcelona, a decision that might seem surprising in a world where technology allows us to be more connected than ever and enables other virtual formats.
But despite the challenges of organizing an event like this (travel, costs, logistics, etc.), we are convinced that the in-person meeting was a good choice for the reasons we explain below:
We chose in-person meetings precisely because we are strong advocates of the use of technology and innovation. That's why we believe it's more necessary than ever to find spaces where we can meet physically. Nonverbal communication, such as gestures, facial expressions, and body language, is essential for fully understanding each other, and details and richness are often lost in digital interactions. We wanted to recover that value that can only be perceived when we meet face to face.
In an increasingly globalized world, we didn't want to lose sight of our local ties. New technologies allow us to stay connected to any corner of the world, but it's also important to remember that we're part of a closer community, in this case, the Catalan one. Therefore, we decided to strengthen these ties with companies and individuals in our region. In fact, in the future, we don't rule out organizing similar events with our local community in Madrid, where we also have a presence and connections.
We know that online formats, such as webinars, are very useful for bringing together diverse expert perspectives, but we wanted to go further. In an in-person event, ideas not only add up, but multiply thanks to the debate and contrasting opinions. Face-to-face interactions allow for perspectives to complement and transform, creating new perspectives that cannot be achieved through the sum of individual points of view alone.
At Utopiq, we've never wanted to choose between new and old communication models as if they were antagonistic. On the contrary, we believe in the need to integrate the best of both worlds. That's why, during the event, all attendees participated in the co-creation of an artificial intelligence-generated song, which summed up the day. This activity perfectly symbolized our philosophy: technology should not replace what we love to do, but rather complement it.For us, it's not about choosing between AI or a coffee break, but rather about integrating both experiences to improve them.
We chose the in-person event because we believe in a vision of the future where technology and innovation are essential, but where the need for close human relationships also remains. This meeting allowed us to demonstrate that it's not about choosing between technology and in-person presence, but rather about finding the best way to integrate them. Utopiq We will continue working to lead the way, contributing our unique vision of communication and business change.
